The Modern World has Faeries (sic)

Will O Shire has created a world in which folktales, myths and legends live in and interact with the modern world of humans. His re-visioning of goblins, brownies, and other faeries (sic) is great. His world-rebuilding is creative and believable.
WARNING: This story does include an abusive drunken husband and father but does not contain scenes of actual physical abuse. There is also a bully at school who engages in physical and emotional abuse. The emotional and mental damage experienced by Jake from his father, Isaac, and the physical abuse from the bully, Sean, mount until a sudden and surprising turn of events. Jake received help from the book’s namesake brownie, Bonnie. After the turn of events, Bonnie comes into her own and the story then centers around Bonnie and her story.
This book contains two storylines both handled well and blended to form this book.
Despite the scenes of abuse and bullying, I recommend this book since Will O Shire resolves the problems when the turn-of-events occurs and due to Bonnie’s story.

Monsters Are Real

Allow a long morning or an afternoon for this strange PG13 paranormal involving middle-schoolers Jake, Amy, and Sean. Hard to say much more without risking spoilers but parental guidance is urged.

How about a John Wick that's two feet tall, three?

If you're a fan of karma in John Wick fashion this is the book for you. I loved every minute of it. Bonnie is "The Brownie", a name that doesn't sound so scary, does it? As the old saying goes appearances can be deceiving, but this...this is beyond that. When reading the writer's short stories I was reminded of Tolkien and I had hoped for a longer tale. I can't swear this is longer by word count, but I do swear this is non-stop once The Brownie rolls.

Great read!

Just finished this amazing book as an ARC, and I am definitely intrigued. The action was intense after the initial world building that focuses mostly on a boy named Jake and his best friend Amy, whose world drastically change when they meet a brownie named Bonnie. Looking forward to reading more of Will O’Shire’s work!

Definitely a scary story Jake has finally met a monster face to face.

Definitely a scary story Jake has finally met a monster face to face. He even befriended her. Now his family is in danger, will she help. Intriguing.

Pleasant

A light, entertaining story. Good character development. My own opinion is that some of the monologues sounded written and not spoken, that is, long sentences and big words that did not seem to fit in a normal flow of conversation.
I really appreciated the book.

Great story

Another great story from a wildly imaginative mind.
I'm yet to read a story by this author that I didn't enjoy, and this one is no exception. It takes a minute for the plot to kick-in, but once it does it grabs you by the toes and doesn't let go.
I mostly enjoy the variety of magical/mythical beings that are thrown together in this world that Will O'Shire has created, and their traits and interactions with each other.
Will is truly great at crafting plots and characters. I feel, however, that the delivery or presentation of their stories is slightly flawed. The writing is sometimes a little stilted and simplistic. I think, perhaps, another editing pass to smooth out the prose would be of great benefit.

Great urban fantasy!

Will O’Shire has created an incredible universe in his urban fantasy series, The Fae Awakening. Revenge of the Brownie, latest in the series, puts one of my very favorite characters, Bonnie, in the limelight. It is action packed while the characters and world are well developed. I love it an hope you will, also.
